On the way down the rabbit hole: German Metalcore outfit GHØSTKID make their return with the third album “FOLLOW THE WHITE RABBIT”. Inspired by the worlds of Alice in Wonderland and American McGee’s Alice, mastermind Sushi delves deeper than ever into personal emotions, using GHØSTKID as both an outlet and a vessel for his inner voices and thoughts: “Without GHØSTKID, the pressure would have been unbearable.”

Personal struggles and experiences being the core of GHØSTKID’s fictional concept albums, Sushi now reveals his own experiences and emotions as unfiltered as never before, making “FOLLOW THE WHITE RABBIT” his most personal work yet: “It was a time with feelings in between completely burning out and ‘everything is incredible’.” Tracks such as “MOTHER DEATH” explore Sushi’s struggles with insomnia, fueled by “irrational anxiety and panic of what’s to come,” while “GIVE YOUR KIDS A GUN TO PLAY,” one of the album’s most controversial songs, delivers a sharp critique of society and modern media consumptionAcross the album’s 11 tracks, GHØSTKID does not shy away to look at the mirror of himself and the world around him.

Listeners may find themselves surprised by moments such as “LOVELY” and “NEON” (feat. MAZ UNIVERZE), where GHØSTKID embraces different territory. While “LOVELY” showcases a softer, tender side, “NEON” incorporates Hip Hop influences, further emphasized by MAZ UNIVERZE’s guest appearance. As a whole, the songs offer glimpses into dark inner thoughts, but never without a sense of hope and the determination to hold on - especially to oneself.
